Holy cow Batman, it must be the end of the world - in addition to running a story on Charlotte Dujadin's kür win earlier in the week, the BBC has just run a piece (including video) on Ben Maher's puissance win!!!

So, so, so pleased that the Beeb is finally giving us coverage, but it does leave me almost wondering if the Mayans were right haha. Hurrah for the Olympic legacy!

I nearly fell off my chair eating my breakfast!

Fabulous for the sport! And two great ambassadors for British Equestrian! Charlotte and Ben!

And what a great night for Ben in the Puissance! Masterful tactical riding of a difficult hot horse

Did anyone see the '50 best moments of the Olympics' on BBC4 early in the week, with Gabby Roslin and Greg James? I'm pleased to say that both Nick and the jumpers made it in, as well as the dressage team.

What was really interesting, is that it was a talking heads kind of show, with the likes of Jimmy Carr and Dara O'Brien giving their penneth worth, also some very street looking comedian, Nathan Caton (who I actually thought was a sprinter to start with!). Anyway, Jimmy said that the genius of the scheduling meant that if dressage had been on in the first week, he would have ignored it, but by the end of the second, where we were on the medal tally hunt, he started to watch the dresssage and found that by then end, he was really enjoying the 'dancing horses' which he hadn't expected. The other comedian said he was out with his mates and said out loud, 'damn, I forgot to Sky-plus the dressage'!! So all in all, that gave a new, rather good slant on persuading the public that horse sports can be cool after all... lol!

Dressage is from about 1:03 :)

Ben Maher was also interviewed on Radio 4 this morning at about 8.20 (prime time!) together with Simon Brooks Ward. They were of course asked to justify the increase in equestrian funding announced earlier this week ;0) !

Radio 5 this morning kept telling us he'd won the Christmas Cracker but no mention of the Puissance. Odd. Still at least it got a mention.

But a great class - I've even got my non horsey OH watching this week. Actually he's not bad - "that horse has got its back wheels trailing out behind it so it won't get over the wall"

Really loved the way Ben changed his approach to the wall in the second round after a massive hiccup in the first - really intelligent riding.

One of the R4 presenters slotted a casual mention of CdJ into a programme (Thinking Allowed) on Wed afternon. Not only did he call her 'double gold medal winning' but he referenced her two Olympia wins, correctly naming the classes, less than 24hrs after she'd won. Extraordinary!
