Jed is very tender around both hamstrings and i believe he has pulled them.

Does anyone know how long it will take for him to recover and what i should do to help him get over it?

my mare fell on the road in Feb this year. I did manage to stay on but we were both very shocked as it was in our village high street with loads of traffic.

As she had not long had a neuroectomy in her near fore I was concerned that this had caused her to fall but our vet could tell by her wounds and where they were that she had in fact slipped, possibly on black ice.

the vet diagnosed"pulled ham strings"as she was very tender when touched in that area. She suggested a physio who gave her a massage and some excersises to do,she was not to be ridden but was still able to be turned out and along with the daily excersises she was back to noraml within a few weeks

This is interesting. I spoke to my vet yesterday who has advised me to give him bute for 5-7 days and ride this evening after 2 sachets last night and 2 this morning. If he is no better when on the bute i need the vet out asap, if he is ok keep him on it and see what he's like after the 7 days and when its out of his system.

When im on and walking he's fine but when i ask for trot he goes very lame behind and throws his head up in the air.

If he has pulled I wouldnt ride for two weeks as my boy tore his and he was off work for nealry 3 months, he also tore an adductor as well.

I would leave well alone for atleast two weeks before riding just to be on the safe side.
