Someone wanted a pic of a pulled tail, I took a picture of my ponies rumpy bum last night and I have done hers with clippers or scissors since ive had her. Saves the pain of pulling and the pain of getting kicked :D

FT- I clip up the sides or cut very close with the scissors so its pretty much bald :D and then just graduate it to the top layer or if i miss and cut more off than Im meant to (happens a lot) I make sure I have left enough on top to hid the damage!! and then just flatten the top layer with a brush and trim the edges to get it all in line. That pic is from about 3 weeks from point of clipping. Will neaten it tonight when a clip her out. But I will NEVER EVER touch the top, I think that is the key.

Yep I do with scissors too...

I cut all the hair down the side of the tail at the top down to the skin, it means you get a semi circle either side of the tail with very short hair (you shouldn;t be able to see any "cut" hair from the front.

I then trim the hair at the sides of the tail, but just cut the hair with the point of the scissors, so you can't tell it's been cut. I pretty much leave the centre of her tail, as it's quite thin, but a thicker tail would need to be thinned in the middle too, without it looking cut... tbh thick tails you are best off pulling if at all possible :D
