Pulled Tails pictures please....

I can't stand pulled tails, just think they look awful (yes even the really well done ones) and their bottom will get chilly in the cold :) I've always plaited tails for competitions and think it looks SO much nicer - still get the benefit of it enhancing the quarters plus its so pretty! But then again I have never competed in showing so don't know if its required for that - I have only ever done SJ and Eventing.

However I did have to start plaiting before everyone else as I'm a bit of a perfectionist!!

Look how pretty :)

Im a bit rubbish at plaiting tails and pulling them to be honest!!!

I did see a spectator at the races get kicked once and i think it was down to the horse having its tail plaited. I spoke to the lad after and he agreed as the 2 year old had never had it done before and he admitted he had done it pretty tight. All in the hope of winning £50 best turned out!!

With my 4 year old all I have really done is showing, Pulling is correct for showing, I use a tail rake and pull the bits underneath .

My mare if she could talk would say to those that thinks its cruel ....B^&%s :p .....She loves it, she never likes to stand when I plait her mane, but for me to pull her tail she will quite happily stand with no headcollar and let me pull/rake her tail (yes even when I pull it)

(excuse the cream on top)

This is a pulled tail, not too closely pulled mind .

When I expect my horse to be comfortable and happy for 6 hours on a full days hunting - I think pulling is going to be better than my AWFUL plaiting - I wish wish wish I was better - and trust me I have been practicing!
Tail flaps are so long on all my rugs, im not worried about her bum.

Anyone with a full bred CB might understand - Thick, just doesnt cover it!!!

Pulling is correct for showing - except for natives where a full tail is required.

My horse used to fall asleep when I pulled his tail!

A horse looks much neater with a pulled tail, and means less time faffing around getting ready in the morning before a show! :)

I always pull tails - they look much neater especially when flattened with a tail bandage. Plaiting is very hard to get right on a tail, anything less than tight as tight to perfection looks horrible!

eta - this is my horse's tail. It needs more pulled out of it, but I always do half a tail and finish at another time.

I always pull tails - in fact I am slightly obsessed with them!! Can't plait tails and it saves so much time. Bandaging is vital to get a really smooth look. I use my fingers if the hairs are nice and long at the sides and then I have a pair of spring loaded pliers (from any DIY store) to pull all the shorter hairs and to maintain the tail during the season. I use a comb to pull the hairs in the centre of the tail. All my horses love it - alot more than having their manes pulled.
I am sure you could probably find a video - I seem to remember Mary King doing one on clipping and plaiting. Search the internet!
