Pulling Tails?

How does everyone pull their horses tails? if you do!
Previously my friend has done my boys with scissors and has looked good, but have no idea how to go about it! Any suggestions using scissors or anything else?!

I buy a mane and tail pulling thing it does thin there tails out quite a bit but looks good

i make sure i do either side 3times untill it looks good

, and i use scissors to finish it off and bandage it afterwards as well stops it from goign all frizzy

i did mine with scissors it looked nice have always done it with scissors as 1 of them would od booted me to bits! just figure out how low you want to go and how far in you want to take it and then dont be tempted to take any extas off. start at the side i cut from the bottom up in thin lines up the way otherwise it can be mre uneven i find. however i have now after all these yrs decided i prefer full tails and have started the long process of growing them back i currently have lavy brush tails on my yard. x

, They work quite well i find but dont get a really fine one or large one get like the middle one, otherwise the fine one could take a lot a lot of hair and the large one cuts barely anything
 
if you pull a tail you pull it out from the sides til it takes shape. wash and bandage! a pulled tail is pulled! you can rake a tail with a gadget, you can clip a tail etc! but you will never beat a well hand pulled tail!
 
OK this might be a really stupid question... but is pulling a tail with a pulling comb the same as pulling a mane with a comb? Jst to make sure... i don't want to make him look like an idiot!

I do my girl's tail with scissors. I could show you but not sure I could explain. How about asking your friend to it again for you and then just keep on top of it?

No, i dont think my boy will like it either... especially since his tail seems quite brittle(?) at the moment and doesn't take a lot to pull it out - doing it might make him bald! :L

Daughter used to do not to bad a job with scissors,mate uses a tail rake which is pretty good gave a nice effect.Have seen some real messes with a razor tho one poor lads tail looked liked last of the mohicans so would avoid them.
Will say a nicely done pulled tail is nice tho my mare wouldn't tolerate it.
 
Nothing beats a neat pulled tail, all of mine have pulled tails- two of them enjoy it, the other wont let you near him for any amount of apples, so it is clipped but it never looks as good
