I have new crossbreed pup (mum is collie x golden lab and dad is mastiff x lurcher) who is now 8 weeks old. I had him from 6 weeks......I wouldn't normally but he was fully weaned, and since mum had 10 she was fed up. They were huge pups. As well as solids, he has been on lactol ever since.
Anyhow, I have been socialising him in arms from then, and he had his first vaccs on monday.

Not had a pup for years. Can I put him down outdoors (ie not in garden) for walkies? As long as he doesn't mix with other dogs? I know I am supposed to carry him about til 1 week after second vaccs, but he is blinking heavy and BIG and full of beans......is it safe to take him to beach for instance, on lead, and not let him near other dogs??

I have taken him all over, incl stables, but wouldn't let him down there cos of lepto.

I personally would not take the chance until he is fully vaxed, esp in places that are frequently highly populated by dogs, he can still pick up a virus even when not in direct contact with a dog.

Wouldn't take that chance if it was me, as CALA said, the bigger number of dogs visiting a place, the bigger risk of someone carrying something.

I've read some vaccinated dogs still could be carriers and be contagious, but if you'd already owned another dog you would have let them be together wouldn't you? So I probably would have tried to find a well behaved and 100 % vaccinated other dog, and taken my chances with letting them spend some time together, preferably in a fenced in garden but otherwise indoors, even if I had to take x furnitures out of my livingroom to create a big enough space.
But I would make really sure that I had the right feeling about the whole thing, owner of the other dog, dog itself etc.

Good luck to your armmuscles from Sweden.

Thanks very much you two; as I suspected. I just didn't want to be too OTT if i didn't have to.

I took him to the yard today and carried him around, and introduced him to the pigs. He was quite scared LOL! Bless

No rottie in there..I have had numerous comments re that! Of his 9 littermates, two were all golden blonde a la gramps.
Was fun at vets last week. I had the receptionists all guessing re breeding
