Hi, sorry to keep bringing up the subject but i had no reply in the other thread.
Want to try my 17wk old rottie with some chicken wings again (bought loads of the blasted things). But shes so food orientated she doesn't chew anything. Last time she swallowed two whole and although all seems to be well in there and she's had no adverse effects im not sure it can be good for her.
Would bashing them up a bit help? im terrified she'll choke or there'll be some kind of blockage. (sorry if i sound like a complete numpty, never would've dreamt of feeding raw til i became a member on here!) I'd just like her to slow down a bit and actually chew them. Never met such a food orientated dog in my life!

Also, how many would you think is sufficient to a meal? She is probably not far off 10kg now.

Hello my rottie pup had been on raw since 8 weeks and is doing really well on it. I started her off on chicken carcasses, these are too big to swallow and really quite soft, I also fed minced chicken, beef and tripe. Good luck :)

God if i held it i'd get my hand ripped off hahaha She gets very excited and we're working on the concept of not snatching!

Will give the a bash this evening before i feed them, thanks for the advice :)

Ok so even bashed up and me clinging on for dear life made little difference, they just broke up into smaller pieces that she subsequently swallowed without chewing. *sigh*going to try beef mince in the morning as I have that in and will call in at the butchers and see if they have any chicken carcasses. Damn dog!!

I get my carcasses free from the local butcher.... It helps to go and buy your meat from the butcher for a few weeks to keep them sweet! :)

If she has no ill effects I would not worry too much- mine does drumsticks/thighs in two pieces..... petrifying to watch the first time- after that i just let him get on with it......
