Puppies for sale

Foxy1, you seem to just like poo-pooing what I say, or is it playing devil's advocate :p I am clearly not going to change your mind :) fair enough, people will keep breeding (sometimes poor :p) animals to line their own pockets (NOT spending it on the dogs/horses) until the end of time, it's just not what I choose to spend my cash on and not something I would ever encourage other people to do, or to fund :)

Sorry I didn't mean it come across like that. I just find the hypocrisy that surrounds the whole subject a bit irksome. Even good breeders make money from selling puppies, and those that say they don't are telling fibs :)

There was a speech made by a vet at a conference recently, in which the vet called for ALL breeding to be stopped (even 'good' breeding;) ) for a period of say 2 years and then all breeding thereafter to be regulated and outcrossed (other breeds) dogs to be bred in to breeds with a lot of health issues. Very sensible and a real solution to the problems we now face. Of course the breed clubs are up in arms..... (they don't need to be, it would never happen)

East Kent, £80 to feed a litter? You could make that £280 and still be quids in!

Foxy I think I mentioned a moratorium on breeding for a year earlier on in the thread, I would not have a problem with that!
We had a bit of uproar when it was suggested by a breakaway group to breed Malinois into GSDs for one generation but it DID get people talking and make people think - TBH the old style working GSDs are similar construction and drive wise (but a bit calmer :p) than Malis anyway :)

The main problem is though that the rescues in a breed do not come from decent breeders, most of those pick up their own problems and sort it out. These are also the people who have already cut back on litters until the economy improves. The irresponsible continue to churn out substandard litters and furnish rescue with their problems.
If woman hours were calculated into breeding, especially in my very hands on one,at £10 per hour there would be not a penny made. The folks in bull terriers take weeks off work to look after a litter, using up all their holidays to do the job properly. I see nothing wrong whatsoever of a hobby paying it`s way,if you`re lucky, expertise is worth paying for.The old saying..buy in haste repent at leisure ...could`nt be more true.
