After the excitement of yesterday's competition, even more excitement this morning!

Florimell had 4 healthy pups this morning, two seem to be grey and two fawn. Both scans we did showed 4 so all's well there. They were born between 6.30 and 9am, so just over two hours. She is very protective but at the same time really wants OH in the room with her!

They were supposed to be born on June 2 so they were a bit early. I can't wait to see them, the earliest I can drive down is Friday :(

OH is completely smitten. I cannot thank heavens enough for Skype with the webcam, it's almost like being there!

(Before people start jumping on me, we only decided to do this after extremely careful consideration. The breeder we bought her from, a well-respected vet who is very active in the Italian greyhound showing world, always told us he felt she was really good enough to breed from. Before choosing a stud dog we spoke to Vertragus, Italy's oldest and most successful Italian greyhounds kennels, to ask if he felt it was worth breeding from her and he was convinced it was (and was quite happy to have pick of litter instead of stud fee in cash!). This is the (stunning) father, who has done quite a bit of modelling for Italian fashion houses :D

Awwww bless her and her little babies!!:):):)

We will of course need lots more piccies of her babies:D:D - I hope she and all her little ones are doing well:) - she looks like she is being a doting mummy!!:)

As for dad - well he is a very handsome boy so no wonder she fell for him......;):D:D

What do Beezle and Peanut think of the new additions??:D

Beezle and Peanuts haven't seen them yet. They are happily sleeping in the kitchen downstairs right now and don't seem interested in the smells upstairs? The problem is that they really are as big as mice right now and I am 100% sure Beezle would swallow them before you can say 'sit', she'd think they are the tastiest treat, yummy, now let's go play football! :D

Also Florimell is not very keen about visitors of any kind. Even my mum (whom she normally adores, sometimes she even makes it clear she wants to stay with my mum rather than with us) this morning didn't feel very welcome! Apparently only OH is the only person who is really welcome in the bedroom...

Yes I will bring my good camera with me and take millions of photos :D

I know but you never know :) (plus this is such a rare breed, at least in Italy that it's not that you can find Italian greyhound rescues or anything like that! Vertragus have quite a long waiting list).

We didn't say anything on FB etc because we were so scared something would go wrong, we desperately wanted this litter and we didn't want to jinx it!

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: FB you didnt tell ME Florimell was having puppies :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

And now I WANT one :D:D:D:D:D:D Lovely lovely sire too, I bet the puppies will be stunning, so glad that mother and puppies are doing well :):):):)

OMG - I think I must have missed some post somewhere!!

They are gorgeous - you lucky lucky girl. You must keep us updated with photos. I can't imagine the chaos you're going to get when they all get a little older and start pinging off walls and anything they can bounce off. I only just manage my 2 - its all going to be fun fun fun :) x x x x

Ahaha I KNOW, a house full of Italian greyhounds -I cannot think of ANYTHING better!

When I went to see Florimell the first time she was with about 8 other Italian greyhounds, most of them adults, and yes, that's precisely what they were doing - just constantly jumping up and down, like a room full of tiny Tiggers (from winnie the pooh, but cuter and more elegant) :D

Gorgeous pups, don't blame you for keeping it quiet, its such a nerve wracking time isn't it? Quite a few of my bitches have been very possessive for the first few days, but soon relax and are happy for visitors. I think you're wise to keep the other dogs away though, I am not a fan of letting other dogs bother bitches with litters.

Clever Florimell! They are adorable and lovely to have 2 of each colour of the parents :)
Beautiful pupsters.
Are you keeping one back or do they all have homes?

Erm, we got the colour wrong, they are all grey :D When they were born the shades were SO different, but now they look more even - one is still a very light grey, and one a very dark grey though.

We will keep a grey female and the sire's breeder/owner will have one, so two of them will go to good forever homes, yes :)

I didnt even know she was expecting!! Damn my blasted internet!
They are soooooooooooo cute! I want I want I want *stamps feet* :o
She looks very happy and well too. Well done Florimell!
COngrats! x

They are doing fab, mum is much less protective now and likes to get away from them quite frequently (read: under the duvet).

Will put more pictures up today, it's 8 days now!

What is really amazing is that I often find a couple underneath the fleece rug/towels, it really must be an instinct for them to bury themselves under stuff, lol :D (no they cannot be cold, the lamp is heating their bed to a constant 28 degree temperature - I really think it's in their genes!)
