I posted a while back about a new puppy which mum bought. It had real Irish pedigree but not the right puppy. Puppy has samonella and everything else, the vet has never seen such a sorry state!

Now these people are advertising more poor puppies at 8 weeks old! It's the same ad with the same number and everything else. Is there anything I can do because I feel so bad for these dogs. My puppy is living with my mum til the diseases go, but it's cost me nearly 700 in vets bill for jabs, blood tests and everything else. I doubt all puppies would be lucky to have someone willing to spend this putting them right!

Trading standards, the tax man (in case of illegal/undeclared earnings), also contact the user Puppyalert on here!!! Name and shame and get the word out everywhere.

Also contact the IKC with your concerns, this is fraud as well as everything else.

Hope your pup comes right - what breed?

She is a golden retriever.
I don't mind people breeding but if you see the list of bugs and abnormalities for the bloods that were taken when she was only 5 weeks it would make your eyes water. We were told she was nearly 9 weeks but small due to being hand reared. Dirrybim ranting :-(
 
I dread to think about the poor mother. We're taking the advice of a great vet who is keeping me right and emptying my bank! Contemplating getting my OH to phone about the puppies tomorrow and possibly go view just to see what they're like.
 
You might want to speak with the animal licensing at your local authority as breeding establishments (usually defined as breeding 5 or more litters a year) must be licensed by and inspected yearly.
 
Aren't you in Scotland?

The seller needs a pet shop licence if the puppies are not bred there- local authority again.
 
A good few years back this sort of thing happened to my friend but it was with a westie. They answered an advert and the man said he would meet her on the motorway service station with the puppies so she could see them. She actually went and bought one literally out the back of a car. Without seeing any of the parents. they were meant to be kc registered. the paper work never came through and they had to phone the person they bought the dog off to get the registration through. When it came it was Irish KC registered. The puppy was very ill and had to be taken to the vets. It had vaccination certificate which the vet said would have been fake as he sees many puppy farms doing the "its been vaccinated" thing and they arent wormed either. They are usually also sold at 6 weeks.

Anyway they got the puppy back to health after it nearly died, had it vaccinated etc. About 4 months later they got a phone call from the police saying they were investigating this person as some other people had bought puppies and some had died. They found her number in the persons house who had sold the puppy.

So the moral of the story is:-

Never buy a puppy without seeing the parents or at least the mother. Make sure its kc registered but registered in correct country, (you can change the registration if you want to). Make sure its healthy and never ever take the breeders word that its been vaccinated or wormed.

Never buy a puppy without seeing the mother unless the mother died and you have proof the people owned her in which case make sure you see all the paperwork, speak to the vet etc.
Never buy a puppy from anyone who lets you phone up, turn up & take one the same day -typically puppies are booked before they are ready to leave and even if one becomes available later there is a cooling off period after you have spoken to a reputable breeder.

If you can't trust the breeder to have reared the pups correctly and to have wormed as appropriate don't buy from them.
Vaccinations should be accompanied by a vets certificate. In Ireland you can buy vaccines from farm stores.

If people did as much research into buying a puppy that they do when buying a toaster a lot of problems would not happen.
 
I know I've been stupid. I spoke to the people 5 times on the phone before they brought the puppy through. I did believe it's mother died as when I phoned the number on the pedigree certificate they said they'd been asked about a surrogate mother?? I got all Certs at the time of purchase but were clearly fakes at puppy was 4-5 weeks when we got her.

I messed up big time but hopefully sasha will be ok and I'm trying to do my best to stop this person before more people buy these poor diseased puppies!

Please contact me by pm for advice on what action can be taken in this situation, I will give you my email address (I also have a web site and blog).
Need to know all info such as where sold/advertised/name of person selling and contact number, information and details on all paperwork given and vaccination details if applicable. This maybe some one known or someone new to us so it is important to pass info on please.
If they are buying puppies in from Ireland and reselling they need to be in possession of a pet shop licence and the puppy should not have travelled so young.
It is possible dependent upon the circumstances that your relative maybe able to try to get their money back for costs inccurred.
