As some of you will know my rottie pup Ella is my first puppy, so i want to be sure im doing right by her! Shes on Chudleys puppy, which she seems to be doing well on, she's putting on weight nicely and the vet commented on how good she looked. I've not seen many reviews on this, what are your thoughts?

Also re routine.. our days consist of getting up at 7:45am and straight out for a wee and poo. Breakfast at 8 then i usually turf her back out for another poo around 9 as she seems to need two in the morning.
I usually let her out at half hourly intervals for a wee, sometimes more often as she's asking to go out now so i dont want to say no even if shes only just been out!
She'll get lunch around 1/2pm and out for a poo straight after.
We're usually at the yard about 5 ish and she'll go for a run in the field and usually poos while we're there which is handy just to fling on the muck heap!
She then has tea at 7ish, she'll usually nap between then and 10ish when we go out and have a good play in the garden, and then last wee and poo before bed. And she's sleeping in a crate which is covered with a thick blanket in which she sleeps through to 7:45 and is dry all night.

Doing this we've had minimal accidents in the house, im hoping we'll have cracked it by 12 weeks!
Are we doing ok?

Anddd because i didnt post one before heres some obligatory pics:

Sounds perfect:) you can in all honesty get better quality food than chudleys but I will let the foodies wrap ya knuckles:p
She is adorable "of course I am biased*:D rotts are super quick to toilet train and it sounds like you are doing fab with her:)

Sounds like you are doing great with the house training, just goes to show how important it is to be there to let them out whenever they ask.
I do agree there are better foods than Chudleys although it is by no means the worse depending on which variety it is. At her age I wouldn't be too bothered by 5 poos a day, they put a lot of food through their system at that age but changing to a better food might reduce this a bit.

Sounds like you're doing well, and fantastic with the house training.

However, and I'm prepared to get shot down in flames, do be careful with the amount of exercise she has.
I know running in fields or gardens are not the same as an on lead walk - she can rest when she wants, but I am 'joint paranoid' :D after having a bitch with a horrendous hip score that was possibly made worse with too much walking as a youngster.

Your pup is gorgeous, by the way :D

she is lovely!! Agree with others re chudleys - i got a bag with my newest addition and binned it Im afraid:o It isnt the worst but there are far better options. Fair enough if you are happy with how your wee girlie is doing on it but just for info - Arden Grange Puppy is what mine have all started on, its mid range decent quality. Since then i have discovered there are even better options! Acana, Orijen, Fish4dogs, Applaws. Or to give her the absolute creme de la creme look here:cool:

they do a ‘working puppy’ version which is off the website just now as they ran out but i can confirm more has been made as i just received a box full, you can order by phone. Working just means vat free btw:cool:

She's gorgeous! I agree with misterjay, really do not over exercise her as she's a large breed and I would be worried about joints as she's still growing. Little and often is key at this stage.

Also, don't know much about your fields at the yard but I always thought a pup should not be allowed on grass until it's second vaccination. I'm just wary in case you have other dogs on it or foxes going through the field and pup might pick up something.

One thing I would suggest is not feeding your pup straight after you get up in the mornings. Certainly let her out for a toilet break but make yourself breakfast and tea first then feed the pup as sometimes they learn to wake you up earlier and earlier as they associate waking up with breakfast!

Otherwise you sound like you're doing well :) would certainly recommend looking at other types of puppy food too.

Thanks for the advice! I think what I'll do is keep her on the chudleys til I've finished the bag and then explore other options. Thanks for all the suggestions!
Re the field walks, she is vaccinated :) also, how much exercise is too much at this age? She doesn't do a lot, usually just fifteen twenty mins to give her a chance to stretch her legs and go to the toilet!

Misterjay is right, I'd say only 5 - 10 mins, two or three times day and increase it gradually when they get a bit older. I've known someone take a 6 month pup doing agility and it developed arthritis by the age of 3 years :(

sounds good, we only did short walks at first just about 15 minutes all together and penny was toilet trained very very quickly. I think because i insisted she went for a wee at quite short intervals she just went outside and didn't seem to want to do it in the house.
