OH FFS!! :D

I hate the 'popcorn & sofa' approach to things, but here we go again! :D

Alec.

Indeed but maybe these bullies need to get a life! anyhow the breeder has emailed me today and she is deeding Hills Science puppy food which I think is good for the initial period. Thanks everyone that has left great food advice! To those that have been v childish and lout posts intending to start a row (again) it really dosent phase me. When you have nearly lost your daughter 6 months ago and still have many hospitals visits to attend to you get strong and will do anything for your child regardless of the insults.

Dear Lady, these 'Bullies' are those who've offered you the soundest advice, advice which you've resolutely ignored! :D Your entertainment value is rising, rapidly! :D

I've a prediction to offer; The very next predictable though unforeseen problem, from you kemosabi, will be that you need to know how to stop a puppy from ****ting in it's cage, when it's left for hours on end. Any takers? :D

Closely followed by puppy constantly crying and mouthing.

And then, wonder of wonders; "Why do puppies have such sharp teeth"? followed by "Would it be ok for me to take him to the dentist, and have them removed"? Yes, of course, why didn't the rest of us think of it first? An excellent idea! Do it! :D

Hills is very low quality, lots of fillers, not enough protein. Please look at the links and choose something that won't subsidise your vet's next holiday.

I believe the best food is Eden followed by Orijen. When we got our pup six months ago I put her on applaws. Despite being a good food, it was no good for her. I switched to Simpsons premium and that was a very good food. She is now raw fed and is thriving. The link I posted earlier gives a very clear unbiased breakdown of what's in commercial dog food. Royal canin, hills etc...are poor feeds full of cereals, grains, sugar etc..,the equivalent to kebabs day in and day out.
Try research as much as possible, switch slowly and feed the best you can afford
Should you wish to feed raw, never mix it with kibble and join the fb groups so you are well informed on what to feed and when.
Enjoy your new puppy x

Thank you missmatch for that link. It makes very interesting reading, and is very helpful.

My terrier pup came from a place I was in two minds about driving away from and was bloated and runny. I asked for some of his food to take away and was told the name of it but I couldn't have any as she had run out! In any case, I'm sure the packet would have had more nutrition.

I picked up some Fishmongers pup food on the way home and free fed that and within a couple of days his coat was looking better with no bloating. I continued to leave food down for him until he was about 5 months I think. It seemed to suit him.

I think it took a few days for his tummy to settle (he was taken to the vets and wormed/fleaed/injected the next day) but despite the most revolting things he manages to eat before I get to him, I find him generally OK despite his poor start.

I have continued to feed fishmongers and have also used vets kitchen for a while. Both of these foods score above 4 on the guide. It also tells me that my old chap's new food is very high in carbs, and yes, he has put on weight.

Origen and vets kitchen are available at my sainsbury's, whilst fishmongers is available at pets at home, am going to try my old chap on the origen and hopefully they can both ultimately be on the same food. Simpsons looks very good but I find having things delivered a bind as I'm often out roaming the hills, and there is nowhere for parcels to be left.

OP enjoy your pup.
