It wont make any difference to her at all in the future if she has puppies she simply thinks she shoud have pups.

My Mouse is having a phantom at the mo. Millie used to as well before she was spayed. Never affected any of our girls when they've had pups

Don't worry ... having a Phantom is totally natural for a bitch!
In a pack situation only the top bitch will breed, but the other bitches will have phantoms...just incase something happens to the mother of the pups , or she doesn't produce enough milk; then one of the lesser bitches can feed the pups and the pack genes can continue.
Isn't nature wonderful!

hehe my little terrier is at the moment having a phantom pregnancy (vet said its because i had a baby 3 weeks ago) so little millie is carrying her little squeaky chicken in her mouth everywhere thinking that its her puppy !! here's a photo very cute !!

My lab had one when she was a puppy after her first season. She was actually producing milk from her boobs, was really bizarre! She also became rather subdued and very nesty.

The vet gave her some hormones which cleared it up. He said they can sometimes go on for a very long time, even up to a year.

I'm not sure it's harmful, but we wanted to do something about it because we didn't feel we could have a dog running round forever morewith milk dripping out of her boobs! Plus it seemed to be making her feel sad.
