I posted on here a month ago as we had lost our beloved rottie to a huge seizure, very sad as we lost our other boy in the summer so both beautiful boys passed within a few months of each other. Our EBT was not coping well so we bit the bullet and bought a rottie puppy who arrived shortly before Xmas - our house just wasn't the same without a rottie in it and luckily Scout our bullie loves him, it was amazing to see her come back to life and just confirmed how sad she was after losing the boys.

He is a huge eater and although he eats quickly he doesn't gulp his food but he gets hiccups a lot and I can't remember out other pups getting them quite as often. He gets them after most meals, titbits and even after not eating anything for a while and I just wondered if this was normal.

Has anybody else got a young pup that does the same or should I be concerned?

My GSD puppy used to get hiccups all the time whether he'd eaten or not, he never ate fast or played after eating (another cause) but he was a hiccup machine. He grew out of it at about 6 months but I never figured out what caused it or how to prevent it.

Thank you I.M.N. he does play a lot after eating, in fact eating seems to trigger a mad hour so maybe that's the cause. Hopefully he'll grow out of it like yours but it must be so uncomfortable for him.

Mine, at 11 months, still tries to get playful after eating but I just ignore him or stroke him so he settles down. But like I said that didn't seem to help the hiccups when he was young, they never lasted long, only a couple of mins probably and they weren't overly rapid so I just ignored them.

My lab is 3 and still gets hiccups, he had them terribly as a pup but hasn't grown out of them.
It happens sometimes after eating, after sting, if he is startled by something basically no trigger.
He has an anti gobble bowl tho to slow down his eating which did help when he was a puppy.

That's funny Toffee44, our EBT belches all the time she's so unladylike, but our rotties have rarely belched so it was quite a shock to us!!

I won't worry about the hiccups, it seems to be a puppy thing then but he's so much worse than any other pup we've had I just wondered if it was unusual.
