I have always had rescue dogs, but this time for various reasons I find myself looking for a puppy bitch, of a specific breed - Cavalier. I'd especially love a tricolour, like my childhood dog.
As I'm being specific, I have to look actively, and it's a popular breed, so 90% of the breeders are either well intentioned back-yarders or full-on puppy farmers. I don't have mega money, so I don't want KC champ, so that rules out the high-end breeders.
How do I find someone 'nice' and make sure I'm not funding some terrible shed somewhere where the poor things are being bred to death?
