Puppy never plays in his crate

My 12 week old terrier is crate trained and happily goes into his crate to go to bed at night time. He will also go in during the day to sleep or when i have to leave him to go to the shop or something. He always has his favourite toys in with him which he plays with non stop outside his crate given the opportunity. However when he goes in his crate he just lies down, sometimes sleeping, sometimes not. He doesnt whine or get stressed out. Just worried as all tips on crates he should have chews etc in there to keep him occupied but my pup just ignores them.

Just want some reassurance that this is normal and he is happy and not just resigned to being in there.

It sounds more to me as if he has accepted that the crate is his place for peace and quiet, well done!

Harley never played in his crate.... and he wouldn't touch rawhide "boring" chews in there either. He would only go for a cheese/peanut butter filled kong, pigs ears and knuckle bones etc. Basically real treats that he only gets when we go out!

Chloe never ever goes in her crate apart from to sleep at night. I'd rather she didnt think it was a fun place to play!!

Mine don't play in the crate unless they're bored then they play fight! I stopped locking them in months ago.

Mine doesn't either.
Came out of the bathroom the other night, couldn't find the dog anywhere - he'd seen me getting ready for bed so thought he might as well go too
