well... i'm rather confused, puppy will heel round the house BEAUTIFULLY.. and walk very well on the lead when we're at work, but has started refusing to walk outside our house (stables!) he just plants himself when we take him to go to the loo! this is mainly with my OH i must say although i have had a few incidents, but i tend to take treats out with me and entice him over to his weeing spot with that- but OH is having trouble with pup, apparently spent about an hour in and out with him waiting for him to do his business, with him refusing to go outside and planting himself- he didn't have a wee, OH put him in his crate when he went to work and i came back to a BIG wee in his crate (which is unusual for Webber... he is VERY well crate trained and goes all night clean and whimpers if he REALLY needs to go!!) he just doesn't seem to like our yard =S i told OH to try taking a toy out with him and playing but didn't work too well apparently....

Oh is planning to take Webber for a little walk down the road tomorrow, as all he has done with him is take him out on the yard but i'm not sure its a good idea??

Any suggestions would be more than welcome =/ ???

What age is he?
He was probably feeling pressure from your OH. We humans can project more than we know onto dogs. If we give off PLEASE eat, oh PLEASE drink, oh PLEASE pee, all the dog will feel is our stress and frustration and pressure and it creates aversions which seem weird to us, but perfectly normal if you think like a dog.

If the puppy is a baby, please don't be expecting too much of him. Walks for puppies should be very short, no jumping up and down, for socialisation and getting out and about, not for exercise. I've seen my fair share of pups either soured or utterly broken in the last few months by people expecting too much too soon :( please let them be babies!

yes, thats probably true tbh!!

He is only on the lead at home as i don't trust him with the horses just yet.. he isn't 'made' to walk anywhere, he plays all day long, and when at work with me, is only on the lead for about 10 mins in total, spends the rest of his time playing with the y/m's dog, (when he definitely acts like a baby LOL) or asleep in his crate!!

We were lucky with Betsy, she wants to go everywhere and investigate everything so she took to the lead straight away (Pulls like a train but never mind...) My mums puppy is a nightmare to walk, she just plants her bum and wont move.

We have started taking both puppies out together for short walks that way mums puppy gets the confidance from Betsy (they are play mates) Could you do something similar with one of your puppies little friends? It has really worked for my mums pup, as well as regular 'walks' around the garden on her own with a lot of praise for walking on and completely ignoring her planting her bum.

Echo the taking another dog/puppy: ours have taken their cue from the big dog who is usually ahead of them. They are very keen to walk when they see him walking ahead.

why dont you enroll for some puppy training and socialisation classes? he is only a baby after all and your OH is probably male with a patience tolerance of probably nil.
