Well we have just put down a deposit on this little cutie! She is only 4 weeks old so won't be coming to us until the last week in January but we are struggling to think of a name for her. I like human names but it can't sound too similar to Susie or Oscar ( our other dogs ). My OH likes Sage but I'm not feeling that one lol!

P.S. she is a whippet and her dam is called Cleo and her sire is Sagar

Noooooo your picture doesn't work for me - PLEASE re-post, I adore whippets :) :)

Name suggestions...... crumbs that is such a matter of personal preference, depends what colour she is! :D

Awwww she is gorgeous :) :) Blue and white :) Oh that little face :)

Sorry.....**pulls self together**..... not hugely human names but Fleur comes to mind, my other half (or lodger now I suppose) says Sheila??!!! I quite liked Hermione for a whippet until Harry Potter made it dead popular :p

Mind you.... reminiscently.....my whippet was called Isobel after Richard II's wife, as I was reading Richard II at school for English A level.... WTF???!!! Pretentious, much? :D :D

Lodger has said Penelope, which I quite like - lots of possible shortenings :)

Ooh, some good suggestions there :) I like Lottie and OH likes Fleur (we've been drinking some wine called Fleurie this week....)

I would like to avoid names like whizz etc as my lovely whippet who I lost in October was called Dash. I guess 1 or 2 syllables is also easier for training.

Ooooh , what a little poppet. :)

How about Lettice, English version of Letitia (either could be shortened to Letty/lettie. Elsie, Nora, Dora (the explorer) Lois, Sidney/Cydney (can be male or female).
Betty Blue, (after that crazy French film/ or because she's blue n white) or Bridie (Scottish I think)
Esmeralda (shorten to Esmie) ;) Olivia (Olive or Liv) Buffy, she could turn out to be a vampire slayer!
Wilma, Ivy, Rio, Sacre Blue ! :D Good luck... and plenty of lovely photos please ;)

Gorgeous pup. We had a blue whippet with a white shirt and socks along time ago. She looked delicate but wasn't! We called her Whisper which suited her well, but it was quite funny when you called 'Whisper' at the top of your voice when she was way down the garden!

Dear god, she is absolutely gorgeous!! Heart meltingly beautiful!

Freya seems to fit a little whippety girl. Love Fleur and Esme, too.

You can't call her Betty Blue, the main character, Betty, pulls out her own eye!! Horrible at the end, that film!

Hmm, I'd probably have to do the same if I had to sit through that film again!! ;)

Ivdo like Freya too - lots of great suggestions, keep them coming! My little lad has suggested Summer which I quite like too. Decisions, decisions! !

Your post made me cry as I lost my gorgeous Rottie girlie in September. She was called Sage.
We have now got 2 pups who are Bella and Georgia. In our, lengthy, quest for suitable names we had Poppy, Lexie, Ruby and omg I can't remember any of the others just now. Pups have fried my brain! Our first rotty was called Holly, quite appropriate for the time of year. She really is lovely.

I knew what I was going to call mine before she was even born :P
Tamriel for a girl and either Osgiliath (Ossy) or Fangorn (Fang) for a boy! Turns out we're getting a girl, so Tamriel it is!

I'm a huge fan of fantasy names, so for me choosing human-ish names is hard!

Though I do like Fei/Fey/Fae (my lovely art teacher at college was Fae).
Maybe - Gylfie, Soren, Arwen, Belladonna, Pippin, Nikita, Yukiko, Sakura...I also like D'arcy! I have more if you'd like :)
