My Stafford or Stafford cross unexpected puppy has been coming along in leaps and bounds. Not quite cracked house training..I have to time it at the moment and I am sure my neighbours think I have lost the plot when cooing at a convenient tree in my garden "go do, go do".. Seems to be getting the "off limits" areas at the yard (school and stables), had the fear of god put into her when she met one of the stable cats and follows to heel, comes etc.

However, this comes to a grinding halt when I put a lead on. Back to the drawing board, treats and patience as I do know she has bad memories of it.

I will admit to trawling through this board as a first kicker as it's been a while since I have had puppies. So thanks for the various tips I picked up from you guys!

amen to that! I know what you mean - it's been something like 12 years since my last pup - so much harder than I remember. Easier for me to say to my grooming clients how this or that should be done - but when it comes to putting in to practice hahaha - well they can make liars out of you.

House training penny finally dropped - and went from having the daily whoopsie to none at all. She's not been well lately - and oddly that penny dropped during her unwell time.

Pride coming before the fall - pup is qualified for Crufts on her first and so far only outing. And then she had a mystery ailment - what we think (and many people here also seemed to think based on my frantic post) was injury. Had the physio out today - a weeks worth of metacam and she's like 90% better. So elated to gutted in the space of a couple of weeks.

We're getting there though - just need to trying to keep a 6month old pup on box rest isn't the easiest thing to do !

Mine won't make Crufts...right now I am praying she is just a badly bred Stafford as she is putting on weight and growing at a rather alarming rate!

Right, off to trawl through posts on how to keep a formerly terrified pup in her place. She has discovered her feet and is being exceedingly bossy and not one of mine are putting her in her place.
