As some of you are aware, my father passed away 3 months ago from a Brian Tumor.
My mum decided to get her self a dog, he is 10 months old we are un sure of his breeding as she got him from the dogs trust, and they had no information on him.

Anyway he has been good as gold up until a few weeks ago, and he started to chew! My mum goes to work for a few hours in the morning, so he is left max 4 hours, but he has not started to chew his bed and pull all the foam out.
My mum stiched it all up and he keeps getting it back open again! Even when my mum is at home, he goes into the Kitchen and pulls the bed into the living room and starts pulling it apart in front of my mum.

He has loads of toys and my mum leaves him a chew when she goes out..

Any ideas what to do with him?? Or why he is doing it?? or why they chew there bed?

This is the little bugga! Meet Oscar! Any ideas what his breeding is too?? he is about the same size as a lab, we think he has a little bit of Patterdale in him.

sounds like he's got seperation anxiety. Maybe a good to try a
crate for him.
Re his breeding, he looks to me like he's got some wire haired
pointer in him, he's too big for a patterdale.
Nice looking dog though

I thought wire-haired pointer as well.

A crate is an excellent idea, or maybe try a kong stuffed with frozen peanut butter or a treat-dispensing toy

He has all of those already!!!! He has a Kong and a Dispensing toy!

Then the crate it is, then. Does he get a good walk before your mum goes to work?

Love him to bits.
Paddy took a long time to grow out of chewing! look how many shoes mum went through lol
Hes a sod, but they do eventually stop lol
I love him

Use a different bed for him - blankets or something that doesn't have foam in it. Our lurcher will disembowel a foam bed within minutes so she now sleeps on old coats and horse rugs

def Patterdale in there, their favourite past time is generally ripping their beds up! i have 3 client dogs i attend to every week and their all bed rippers, the owners have stitched them back together millions of times but the dogs still get them open even though they have toys, chews in with them!

A good thing to ask yourself is is he getting enough walks? i find with these kind of breeds they need lots of stimulie (spelling?) if i walk/throw balls/play games with mine before the owners leave them for the day they generally settle down and sleep better after exercise,i often get told that the days i don't come to walk them they are little devils!
Maybe try giving him a run before hand to get rid of some energy, although he is still quite young so be careful about for how long?
Is he going to puppy classes, this is a great way to socialise him and gradually gets them more chilled about life in general.

My mum walks him for an hour in the morning, she then goes to work for 4 hours and she works 5 mins from home.
Gets home, takes him out for another walk which then my mum is in for the day and night.. He also has a walk about 9.00pm for an hour round the field.
I have said to my mum about puppy classes, so maybe she will go soon!
