we have always been collie people, we still have 3 - including my young bitch who is 9 months.

however recently we lost one of our older girls, she was only 11 so we expected to have her for a good few more years. She was very much my son’s dog and he has been devastated.

So - we have entered the world of spaniel-dom!!! :D

personally, i was hoping for him to be called ‘Grouse’, a really good spaniel name :D however... mini me has opted for Boomer :o

Very cute. Maker sure you don't read any of the spaniel threads! (Except anything by Cinnamontoast).
He has got truly enormous feet!

Fabulous choice, NeverEver! Undocked? What a gorgeous looking boy and a great name, reminds me of Neighbours. Are you going to work him? I was watching a farming programme earlier with border collies. The narrator said they’ll never retrieve. Your springer will retrieve anything, there are regularly shoes on the lawn here. Zak even brings the post. Mostly!

Ha, my lot have our full attention, we’re strict and spend an awful lot of time with them. Take your eye off them and the youngsters could easily go feral. Because it’s been so hot, we’ve let them mooch round rather than work properly. Zak took the mick today and dicked off into the woodland. I was straight after him! No freedom for the naughty one.

Awww springers are easy peasy :D :D :D

Somewhere between the age of 8 and 12 that is. Beyond 12 they regress back to being idiots again.

Yes, be prepared for your slippers to spend most their time outdoors. Funnily enough, I've just bought new ones today so the 'girls' can have the old ones. Oh nooooo, they want the new ones now!!

There will never be a dull moment and you will chuckle and tear your hair out every day, probably in equal measure.

Looking forward to progress piccies as he grows into the dog tag :)

Gorgeous! He'll drive you batty but you'll all be smitten I can guarantee. Going back to "normal" dogs afterwards feels strange after a spaniel.

Also to reassure you about the feet...our cocker had the most enormous feet as a puppy, even the vet said he was going to be huge, but he actually ended up slightly undersized.

he is a little whirlwind but in a completely different way to any of the collie pups we have had - he is just so... deliriously happy all.the.time haha. And he wiggles, constantly :D

most photos come out like this....

Ha, he has the springer (cocker!) sprawl down perfectly! Spaniels do wiggle, they are wiggle bums. I had to force my lot to rest, they were, still are dynamos.

Bear doing the classic spaniel sprawl tonight.

He's just lovely! I was very tempted to get a spaniel, there is something quite special about them and my friend breeds welsh springers and cockers but OH over ruled me and we got another BT. I love our BT but wonder if we could manage another dog???

Do you only have the BT? I definitely think dogs shouldn’t be lone dogs, they’re pack animals. (Are you near Scotland?!)

Only the one now and that's how it will stay. we are home all day so Stanley gets lots of walks and company. We do, however, make a point of taking him to places where he meets lots of "friends" and his sister Teasel lives across the fields.
