Puppy teeth......

My whippet pup, who will 6 mnths at the beginning of April, has most of his adult teeth through.

However, where the adult teeth (think they may be the incisors), have come through on his bottom jaw, the baby teeth are still in the same socket. They are a grey colour and do wobble a little, but currently show no sign of falling out.

Do I just ignore them and assume they will come out on their own when ready, or should he be checked by a vet?

He is fed on dry kibble and has plenty of toys to chew on.

Unfortunately I can't help as I don't tend to have puppies so I have never encountered this (my two whippet pups years ago lost their teeth in the usual way) but please can we have some photos I love whippets

He is rather beautiful and a very unusual chocolate/sable colour, with flashes of silver on his shoulders. Even my vet, who is normally quite hard hearted, swoons when he goes to visit!!!

They will come out, eventually! Personally I wouldn't worry.

Thanks - I will try not to obsess over then, and hope they come out on their own. He is so good natured that he would probably let me 'wobble' them out, but maybe should just let nature take its course......

OK you really do have to post pictures. Someone more competent than me will perhaps let you have their email address and do it for you?
If in doubt, ask your vet. I would probably get them checked as I would worry about infection or them causing issues with the adult teeth. And I am a prime worrier!

If teeth are going grey/pink this means that the root is dying which is normal for puppy teeth. Make sure your pup has plenty to chew on and they should come out naturally, nylabones are great but some dogs don’t like them. Alternatively you can use hard veg such as carrots

the same happened to my little terrier and i was in the vets for my other dogs vaccination and took him in as well so i could ask the vet. he said its best to leave alone for a while and bring him in if he had problems eating or seemed sore. the baby tooth came out after a couple of weeks...so all good...

We got Luna at 10 weeks. We didn’t find any of her baby teeth which OH was quite sad about.

We had to be quick to grab dropped puppy teeth from Zena as she ate them pdq. Never did get any from any of the other puppies we have had.

I wouldn't worry, they will come out when they are good and ready. I don't think I have ever found any puppy teeth either come to think of it.

I found puppy teeth from both of dad's terriers by standing on them. They are worse than standing on a plug!!!! 🤣
