A little update

The vet wasn't very optimistic, she thought that she possibly could have undeveloped organs....she looked very odd...

If you imagine a new puppy on its back, under her ribcage downwards there was no tummy, nothing, seemingly just spine and skin. The vet offered to keep her in on fluids, tube feeding and run tests, though I chose to have her euthanised.

It just didn't seem fair to put her through all that, when the odds were so against her, away from her mum and brothers and sisters, some may argue that it worth a chance, she didn't know what was going on etc, but she was a very poorly baby and in my heart I knew she'd already gone. So she slipped away peacefully wrapped in a blanket smelling of her mum.

I named her Lenor and she was buried under the cherry tree with her sister, Willow.

So sad - its a shame to marr the happiness of having puppies but you did everything you could and now you can focus on the ones that are fit and healthy.

So sorry to hear this but think you made the right decision. I have found from bitter experience that little ones like this very rarely make it. Hope the rest of the litter continue to thrive. x

How is mummy coping?

I don't think Flossy (Mum) noticed tbh MJ.....

She was kept busy whilst I scooped baby up and put her in a blanket, then went back to the others and didn't seem to notice, which is a blessing. Maybe she did notice, who knows. I think she knew she wasn't going to make it as she kept putting her out of bed, then sitting with her in her mouth crying....

It was very sad, but I have two healthy boys and one healthy girl (Ariel, Daz and Persil as they're so white lol) to focus on, little girl is by far the largest, weighing a whopping 14oz to the boys 11oz....Mum's only 9lbs hersef.

She's being spayed in the near future, to avoid any further accidents...I suppose I was lucky that when the father, whoever he may be, left the garden she didn't follow him and get hit by a car or something....

I wasn't going to have her spayed, I thought I may have a litter from her (purebreds lol) in the future so that I could have her daughter, but it seems I'm not experienced enough in detecting when they're still fertile....she'd stopped bleeding for very nearly a week, and was in what I believed to be a secure garden (it keeps a JRT, a shih-tzu and a dalmation in)
