My pony is very sensitive! Feed, fly spray, hay etc. Sweet itch etc I am possibly thinking of trying either pure feed or simple systems or are there any others?. What are people's experiences. How long did it take to see a change ? Any info welcome please

I use Allen & Page. Although I accept I thought the idea of horses having "food allergies" was rubbish until I got one.

You'll make your life much easier if you work with the vet to tie down what is actually an histemic response and what isn't. Horses can show really weird responses that we think is feed related but turns out to be something else.

Thank you . I am awaiting to hear from the vet about getting him tested for his allergies (did the same for dog) as it may also be environmental as you say.

We are using Agrobs Wiesen cobs for our sensitive horses but can't feed their muesli, as it contains carrots, which is one of our sensitivities. If I were you, I would stick to single ingredient feeds so if it does affect your horse at least you know what caused the problem.

Pure feeds are not at all pure, as the name might suggest!

Simple systems, Agrobs and Thunderbrook are the only 3 'brands' I would feed, I have a very allergy prone horse, she is literally allergic to life!

What allergies are you dealing with?

The vet thinks possibly hay....he has recently reacted with swelllings to lips throat and v itchy head. Prior to that sweet itch but again affecting his head, sheath and tail. Allergic to some "fly sprays, show products".
Thank you for your suggestion re feed

I have used Thunderbrooks feed. Haven't used Pure Feeds but SS feed made my horses incredibly ill with gastric and hind gut ulcers.
