Well, my horse is a well known whimp and diva and starts to look very fed up if left out in the rain after days and days and days. It didn't rain yesterday, but the paddock is getting really cut up and muddy and when the rain started hammering down again tonight I just thought I would give them a night in the dry. They are used to having hay every day in the field so no change of diet.

Of course, they are on restricted grass as well as the rain and warm weather mean the grass is growing very fast. Normally by this time they would be on at least half the field, but can't possibily have that much, so a wet, rather hungry horse = miserable horse.

Much happier now in the stable with a nice pile of hay and out of the rain.

My horse would give anything to be out at night. He is still out for only two hours a day in a new sectioned off field. When he had been bathed last night after I'd taken him for a lesson I thought how nice it would be to be turned out overnight, it was so warm in our neck of the woods.

Hopefully next week they can go out overnight.

All mine are pampered because I have been bringing them in through the day because of horse flies now that's it's been raining they stand with their heads down stood at the gate as if no one loves them so been bringing in in the biggest downpours then turning back out when they have dried out think I'm going soft

Mine comes in every damned night all year round. He will happily stay out during the day but will cause carnage if left out at night. In the winter when all the other horses are out at day YO has to bring him in at 3pm when she brings hers in or he starts doing the wall of death around his field in protest at being left out (even though there are many still out in their fields at this point!), and in the summer if left out overnight (even with the every other horse on the yard being out) he will trash his fencing. We tried to work with this the first few years, swapping fields - with the neighbouring horse - seemed to curb his delinquent attitude in the winter for a month or so and then we would have to swap back, but in the end YO and I caved and let him have his own way and stay in at night all year round... spoilt happy horse!!

Mine are in this evening too. The ground's OK but one of my mares paces when its very windy like it has been here all day. I know she won't settle or graze much so I've caved and they both came galloping up to the gate in joy :)

oh yes, in with rugs on, looking very smug and cozy, heads poking out of doors left open so they can come and go as they please, me, sitting by warm fire, in july!

2 hours even now, Applecart? Ours were out 24/7 on 2nd June and the yard is not renowned for being generous with turnout. I've kept in a couple of times since then as summer is slow to make an appearance this year.
