i hope someone has some advice. I'm moving house and taking my two horses with me and they will be living together. They're actually mother and son and have been in fileds one part from each other since they were split up some 2 years ago. Anyway, last night be introduced them to each other and they were OK, a bit lively but OK, that was until the horse in the next field starting running round screaming so I took my horse back to her field and the youngster spent about 5 minutes on his back legs and then he very quickly calmed down, ate his tea and was back to normal. I was hoping to travel them together as my mare is an excellent traveller but that is going to be dangerous so I intened to teach the youngster to load and travel alone in the next 6 wee

ks. i appreciate that this is less than ideal but I think it will be safest. So, I am concerned taht he will be less than good travelling although, in general, he is quick to learn and adapt, and I am also concerned about putting them together again. When i move, I will put them in fields next to each other with an electric fence separating the two. I have also purchased some calming supplement fo him so he will be calmer throughout. Sorry, I probably sound totoally dappy but I've never experienecd this before so any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm not entirely sure what you are getting at.

But, I don't see why travelling them together is a problem. Many people travel two horses together that don't know each other and they don't have a problem.

TBH if they are mother and son, it would be a good thing as they know each other. Also you have partitions separating them so they can't harm each other.

And, your lad will probably be better travelling with company so as to re-assure him.

Only my opinion though x

Thanks for the email.

They will get to know each other eventually but I am just worried that they were so excited to see each other yesterday that someone might get hurt. She will reassure him though if he is frightened but then, if i can get him used to traveling on his own, I can't help but think that might be safer? Also, I am worried about them being next to each in separate fields...I suppose I was just taken a back a bit last night, it also started so wel and then the horse next door started being mad and it all went to pot.

They can try, but I have personally never found horses kick each other in trailers, they are normally too busy getting their balance. They may bite each other, but you can get a head piece for the trailer to prevent this.

Good luck x

I can cope with biting and I'm sure you can get those grill things are you say. I'm sure it will be fine, it just worried me a bit last night!
