but I do believe that some idiots really should not be allowed to keep animals!!!
Been at yard and discovered that someone is putting their 25 year old mare into foal for the first time. A maiden at 25????? Not just that but to an unproven 17 year old stallion!!!! 17 and never served, never competed never even left the confides of the paddock!!!

Mare is in field with severe leg injuries, IMO should have been pts......but thats a different matter...owner says that she will never be able to buy another horse due to lack of cash so putting her into foal is a fab idea! WTF???? No cash for new horse = NO CASH FOR VETS OR FEED FOR PREGNANT MARE!!!!

you line the owner up and load the gun, and i'll happily fire away.

find out who her vet is and get them to talk to her. poor old mare. hope it dies in its sleep first, tbh. tell her it's like asking a 60yr old woman to get pregnant.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who thinks that this is unfair!
The mare has given her all for various owners over the years and now this halfwit has her! As for finding out the vets name...hmmm owner and vet are poles apart after the leg injury. The owner-24yrs old no education to speak of, no job obviously knew so much better than 60+ year old vet-and thats been generous, he was old!! who has been to Uni and been a vet longer than I have been alive. He told her to have her pts as leg injury was severe and age was against her. Owner ignored all advice and has been 'treating' her!
I'm thinking a phone call to an appropriate charity is in order!
 
what a silly cow, that is very unfair on the mare not only would being in foal and looking after a foal take a hell of a lot out of her but if her leg injury is that bad she may not make it through the pregnancy.it reminds me of a post on here some time ago where a mare was in foal and knocking on deaths door but they wouldnt let her go til they had that foal, the mare dies soon after, after a lot of pain and suffering, some people dont have the sense they were born with, i think a phone call would be a good idea as her ignorance may cause suffering.
 
Being pregnant won't help the leg injury either - very sad / stupid!! Lets just hope nature takes charge and doesn't let her conceive.

Poor thing, with a bit of luck (never thought I'd ever say this) she won't conceive. That is a horrendous attitude, but unfortunatly one I've heard before 'Got no money, but I'm going to out my mare in foal', mad.
 
WELFARE!!!!!!!! It's inhumane to do what this ar5e is intending to do. Ring everyone (ILPH, BHS, etc) up or give me their contact details and I'll tell them in no uncertain terms what I think about their ridiculous idea

never heard anything so ridiculous and cruel. I reckon that 1. the stallion will be clueless and won't perform 2. even if he does, then she won't take.
Even so, i agree with the others who have said that to contact the welfare orgs. Why are people so thick??

What is it with everybody wanting to breed a foal regardless of the state of the mare or stallion. I too hope that she does not conceive, but actually hope some divine intervention (via a report!!) will stop her being put with the stallion to start with.

Aside from the fact that this sort of breeding is exactly why the Europeans steal all the British buyers, there is a real welfare issue here. Bl@@dy silly selfish ignorant cow, I would like to be a member of any HHO firing squad, hell, I'll even buy my own bulletts.

As a RESPONSIBLE breeder, I am appalled by the stupidity in this case. Perhaps - though- it MIGHT have a happy outcome. Covering a mare with a 17 year old untrained stallion can be VERY dangerous for the handlers of both mare and stallion (or is the stupid cow just going to chuck them in the field together??) Getting a stallion's hoof in her head (no doubt she'd be too dumb to wear a hard hat while covering!) MIGHT make her see sense - or make the whole problem go away.
 
Although logic says that at 25 the mare is highly unlikely to get in to foal, and as the owner is not working won't have money for the stud fees and vet fees anyway.......
 
This makes my blood boil. I took a lot of time and effort breeding Welsh cobs over the years, but decided to stop breeding some time ago as there were just to many idiots out there that want to beg a Vgood quality foal from you only to go ahead and bloody ruin it.

Thank god i never bred for sake of it, just to earn money. This mare will suffer considerably if she is put in foal and i'm sure if that can be proven something (legaly) can be done about it.

Just when you think people can't get any dumber one comes along and proves us all wrong.

Every chance even if she takes the stallion that foetus will be re-adsorbed if her body is not in fit state to carry to term
