Putting plaits in tights overnight - how??

In my previous post about putting George's plaits in the night before a couple of people mentioned putting them in tights to preserve them overnight. Sorry if I'm being dim but how do you do this? I was going to put a stretch neck over them but I can't find one to go over George's huge head, and I can't afford or warrant getting a zipped one.

Neck cover probably wouldn't work as it might be a bit tight and disturb the plaits. Take one leg of a tight (or stocking if you are that way inclined!) and cut it open lengthways. Plait as normal, then lay the stocking down the plaits and secure it over each one with an elastic band.
 
we cut a pair in half so you just have one leg and then place it over each plait starting from the top putting a band over each plait to keep it it place...
hmm this was harder to eplain in words than i imagined :P do you get my drift?

dont put the bands over the tights too tight though as it can be tricky to get them off in the morning without ruining the plaits if they are too tight - i normally just pop them over it not twisting them on...


sorry this doesnt really seem to make sense i hope someone else can make better sense of it!!

Um I think I get it, think I will need to buy a pair though as I have short legs and George has a long neck!! Do you roll up the plaits first or do that in the morning?
 
Can't you do them in the morning? If you thread your needles up the day before ie do 13 or however many plaits you do, & thread them onto an old sock, then they'll all be ready for you & you'll be able to plait in 20 mins or less. If you pull your tail you won't have to bother plaiting that either!!
 
I get my time tonight but I suspect it will be quite early as it's the first class and I know George will be fidgety because he will still be in when the others have gone out!
 
Plait up as normal then get on leg of tights and place over the plaits securing each one with a band then it will never fall out! P.s if you are really worried id get up a bit earlier to check just in case leave forlock till morning. If they are all fine with that extra time in the morning have a brew and a biccie lol! Have fun though remeber that it what it is all about! Good luck!
