What a good boy!

It might be just the photo, but your vehicle balanced? The seat looks like it's at a wierd angle and the shafts are very high.

Glad he was a good boy.
I agree with the above though, it looks like the carriage is tilting back which will make it a lot harder for the pony to pull.

ETS: he isn't tied up is he? I can see a leadrope

I would say vehicle is too small, IMO you need one with bigged wheels which would mean the front of vehicle is higher therefore shafts would be raised up, also looks like the shafts are a bit short (look like they might dig in the neck when turning) Hope you don't thing I'm being picky but the noseband on the bridle looks very tight.

Make sure you take it slowly,

Good luck.

Looking at it again I would say that putting the tugs down a couple of holes won't make a difference, the vehicle is just far too small. What size horse/pony is it supposed to be for? And how high is your ponio?

Well done rachethegreat, you have done well with your pony. I do agree though that the vehicle is not right for your pony.

Well done, what a smashing pony. Ditto the others who said the vehicle is too small for him though, that is why it's tilting backwards out of balance as well as the shafts being supported too high. Have you got someone helping you because its not safe to go off driving all by yourself? Sorry if you've answered that question already somewhere else. There's bound to be a bit of a stage of trial and error but it looks like you're going to have loads of fun.

hmm ok- I know advice is good-but no my noseband isnt too tight and id like to think that after 14 years of doing them up that I can get it right by now!!!!!

The trap isnt a robinsons one- it is for 13.2hh and up-he is 13.2hh. so that is the larger size model hence the length of the shafts. The vehicle may not be perfect for him but being that im not made of money, this was what I have to make do with (owing to the fact the zilco harness cost me most of the budget)

The tugs are on the top hole, so there is plenty more room for me to lower the shafts to level the seat a bit-I do however like it tilted back just slightly. as it is more comfortable to sit on. This was the biggest trap I could get!! May invest in some bigger wheels to lift it up a bit as was suggested. Looking at other driving pictures, they all seem to fit the same as his though?!!

ps-yes I have plenty of helpers-im not stupid to go and do it alone.
