We've just got back from Trev being scoped at the vets. Verdict - pyloric ulcers. The actual stomach is fine. We've been given gastrogard, norodine granules & antepsin, which coats the ulcers so they can heal. Rescope in a month.

Has anyone successfully managed a comp horse with these so that they haven't come back? If so, how? All info appreciated!

(The vets have given me an info sheet, but it's always helpful to hear what other people have tried & what has worked.)

Yes in several horses ,
They all arrived with them except one who broke her leg and the stress and drugs triggered them.
These horse have all done very well.
I use an ulcer supplement and Protexin which I give at a double dose in stress times .
I feed forage while travelling
They are given Alfafa mixed with a little oil and sodium bicard before riding after travel.
They are molasses free high fibre type diet .
They haylage , and hay bloks and chopped straw so they have different types of forage .
I give gastroguard on low dose if they need medication or are under a lot of work pressure.

Yes,my boy had Pyloric and Squamous-think spelt right!.He had to have antibiotics and GG.The Pyloric healed pretty quickly.Others took a while longer. He then went onto oil on his feed,Baileys Digest Plus and Equine America Ulser Gard Pellets but is now going onto the liquid.Touch wood have had no problems since with the ulcers. It is really not that bad once you get on top of it and work out the best feed etc for your horse. He is out competing successfully.
