Silly question but how long would it take for Brewers yeast to take effect (if its going to)?

I have been feeding it to Viento for about 10 days now and, although I dont want to tempt fate, he seems to be a lot calmer?

Are you saying that you don't trust it to be the Brewers' Yeast that is calming him, Piaffe?
I reckon it takes about a week to get into their system and have its effect. So if Viento is calmer, then I have no doubt it's the Brewers' Yeast that has done it. Just keep on giving it to him!

It takes 2 days of not being fed for the B vits to drop. I only know as I feed it for sweet itch and after 2 days of being away and it not being added to his feed he had swelling and bloody midge bites on his sheath.

Not sure whether its a calmer, but currently have to stuff mine with topspec turbo and red cell to keep him 'jolly'.

Oh I don't know! I have tried so many calmers and they havent touched him so guess I am not expecting anything!

I def wont stop giving it to him, just in case! If it IS working, I wish I had given it to him a year ago!

How much a day do you give him??? I have been putting it in merlins feed for about 10 days and cant notice any effect...... i have also started Magnesium Oxide, and still no difference.... he is still far more spooky than he used to be!!!

Perhaps I am not feeding enough!!

I cannot remember the amount but i I have a small scoop.

I tried a few mag based products and then spoke to a Global Herbs sales rep who said that some fine boned horses cant cope with mag andit can send them the other way, esp TB's

The mag based ones def made him worse.

I fed brewers yeast to my two hoping it would help with sweet itch - it made them both spooky so promptly took them off it.

For calmers, have you tried the Global Herbs Thoroughbred calmer? It worked with mine when I started bringing him back into work (he was a bit fizzy after 24 weeks off). You do need to feed a lot in the beginning to load them up but after that it is not so bad. Mine really liked the taste as well!

Thanks for that,

I tried this calmer (because of the lack of mag in it). It made absolutely no difference what so ever. I think I have tried nearly every calmer on the market and none have touched him
