Hi,

My boy is 10 this year (had him from a foal) and always just had the requisite specials and cheaper ebay bridles due to his obsession to rubbing his face up every rough surface going and ruining them - so never got a "nice" one.

He's now grown out of his at long last so looking to get him a nice quality "grown up" bridle that will last him a long time. Needs to be a grackle/figure of 8 and not too chunky - he's a Welsh D but with quite a fine dished face. It's a mine field! I've looked at loads Stubben, GFS, Jeffries, Horseware, Whitaker but the two I've kind of narrowed it down to are Frank Baines & Jaguar. Does anyone know what these are like as in do they wear well etc? Budget is £100ish

Thanks!!

I have a Frank Baines bridle for my sec D mare and the cob size is very snug on her which surprised me as she has quite a fine head. It is lovely quality though. I would opt for a full size for a Welsh cob.

I found them snug to start with but over a few cleanings and wears it fitted well and the quality is very good. I have had one for 8 years and still looks like new - they are a good investment.

I've got Frank Baines saddles and bridles, they are super quality and I have found them true to size. However my Elevator bridles are the best I have owned.

Id look at properly measuring and getting mix and match parts as Ive never got an off the peg bridle to fit properly. Look at Sabre, Evision, Kate Negus and Jeffries. Ive started a thread about Jeffries which might be worth a look if you decided to get one form them. My Sec D’s Sabre bridle is full headpiece, cob noseband, extra full browband and pony cheeks! In Jeffries she is a full head and noseband, extra full browband and cob cheeks.

I have a Frank Banes bridle for my Connie x. Nice quality and runs true to size. Had mine 18 months and till looks good as new (despite very infrequent cleaning/care)!

Frank Baines it is then by the sounds :) thank you for all your help! I hadn't even heard of him until looking around on google but didn't want to fall into the trap of buying something for the name!
