I am totally confused which rugs should I buy I love premier equine and the weatherbeeta ones but is the quality as good as they promise for the prices by girl don't trash rugs usually but she needs now new ones for the winter.
i was thinking about one medium turn out, one light weight turn out, one stable rug medium, one fleece rug, one fly rug
I must say that my mare lost condition very quick in winter if no rug on so please help me to find the right one. She needs a rug with deep neck . Many thanks

I love premier equine rugs, the quality is great and so is the fit. My girl drops weight easily too and these rugs keep her warm and dry.

Premier Equine rugs are really tough and well made and come up lovely after a wash. They would be my choice for my own :)

The premier equine rugs are amazing, I've been so impressed with the quality that my horse seems to have a full wardrobe of them... they are actually waterproof (!) and very durable, fit beautifully and stay looking lovely too. Really worth the money imo.
I personally haven't had a lot of success with Weatherbeeta's as the ones I've had in the past have been easily ripped and nowhere near as waterproof as the premier equines, though I know others who haven't had a problem with them. Really like Amigos too.

I originally bought an entire compliment for 2 horses of weatherbeeta rugs, but stopped using them after less than 3 months with one of my boys. Whichever weight weatherbeeta rug in whatever the weather makes him sweat up like he has been ridden extremely hard - foamy slimy white sweat all over his neck, behind his ears, between his legs. As soon as he is in a different brand - can be any ie Mark Todd, shires, even cr@ppy quality Derby House rugs bought as an emergency, he is then fine (went with shires as their main winter rugs, but their 400gram heavyweight winter rug with a 2000 denier outer) he is absolutely fine, even if it unexpectedly warms up quite significantly). I also have a pair of rug wreckers, if it isn't still intact by the end of the first day it ends up in the bin - they literally tow each other round the field by their rugs.
I also like Mark Todd rugs and the fit is great on both my boys despite being completely different shapes.
You will find a type, brand and or certain style that both you and your horse gets on best with and will probably not look back from that once you have made that decision.

I love Horseware; they fit well, stay waterproof and last forever! The Amigo (cheaper) range is just as good quality as the Rambo/Rhino ranges too.

Premier equine rugs rubbed ours badly. Hugely disappointed with the quality too (especially for the price!) - lining fell apart, neck join started to give etc. We've moved to weatherbeeta and are really pleased - fit wonderfully, no rubs and they're well made.

I think it depends very much on the shape of your horse as to which brand is best.
I have premier Equine, weather beeta, Bucas and Horseware between my boys.
I rate them all but I think if I was going to buy new now I'd be going for Mark Todd or Premier Equine

I have a mixture of Weatherbeeta (lightweight, medium weight (220g) and heavyweight detach-a-neck (400g) and fleece rug), Saxon (180g middleweight combo and fleece rug), Shires (300g heavyweight), Amigo (fly sheet and exercise sheet) and Derby House (100g lightweight and no fill lightweight).

I've found the lightweight and mediumweight Weatherbeetas not quite as good as the heavy. Those two are regularly getting torn (our boys bicker a lot, have tried individual turnout but despite coming in covered in cuts and torn rugs they get depressed separated!), and the mediumweight is fairly heavy - I use it mainly in spring/autumn, but when I didn't clip last year I used it through large portions of the winter too. The 400g detach-a-neck is fabulous though. Keeps my TBs toasty even when fully clipped and turned out 24/7. Really waterproof and no rubs.

The Saxon ones do make him look like he's wearing a miniskirt for the length of him - it'll do for a medium weight alternative, but not my fave rug. The Derby House lightweights are surprisingly good, have been ripped so mending them just now but waterproof and dont rub. The Shires heavyweight is brilliant, wasn't sure to start with as has no shoulder darts so rubs his shoulders a bit, but not as badly as his old Masta fly rugs used to, and for a cheap rug actually ok.

Am dying for a Rambo, thouugh, with the liner systems. Would have so much less bulk to store!!!

The best two rugs I have ever had have been Weatherbeeta, I bought them (a high neck turnout and high neck stable) in approx 1996 and they are still going strong and been on several ponies in that time. The only damage has been a tiny 5 pence size rub in the turnout that I shall patch before this year.

I don't know what their current range is like, when I looked to buy an additional set for my second pony I was disappointed to find they didn't seem to do the high neck range anymore? If anyone can point me in the direction of a high neck (not standard or full) I would be grateful!

I made the same experience with masta fly rugs they rub my mare very badly in just 2 hours of wearing it but I have ordered now a lightweight from premier equine from the sale to look if it fits her and now I'm looking for a medium weight from weatherbeeta.
It's so great to get all this response here thank you very much

I have 2 Amigo rugs and they are still waterproof after 18 months. They fit my high wither TB well - no rubbing ever or rips or things coming undone.

My Dad has two 15 year old Rambo rugs which he got for his 5 year old 17.2hh Hanovarian x TB who is now 20! No rips only one surcingle needed replacing which is amazing after all those years!

I only have 2 rugs & 2 liners whereas almost all the other girls on the yard have LOADS of cheaper ones.
I have the Amigo bravo 12 lite (1200D with no fill) and the Amigo bravo 12 medium (1200D with 250g fill).
I have a 100g and a 200g liner both made by Horseware Ireland which attach really securely inside the Amigo rugs and have never slipped or come loose.
It means for £270 (£100 per rug and £35 per liner) I have 0g, 100g, 200g, 250g, 350g and 450g of tog for the horse so can combat anything from a light shower to a severe frost!
