Please help resolve a dilema. I have my first county show coming up with my show hunter and I'm not sure if I am supposed to quarter mark him. I have asked so many people but opinion is divided and I'm still non the wiser. Help:-) should a dapple grey have quarter marks and sharks teeth or not? I'm absolutely terrified with nerves and don't want to get in the ring and find I've done something incorrectly.

Only put them on if they show up, which they often don't on a grey - it depends how dark the dapples are. Otherwise don't bother. Lots of show hunters don't have them I think - those that do often go for the big ones across the top of the quarters, sometimes with shark's teeth, sometimes without.

So basically I'm sure it won't matter if you don't have them! Just go and have fun!

Yes leave them off. You don't very often see any on a grey horse at county level and they don't generally look very good anyway.

Good luck. Where are you going, Bath and West?

My feeling was to leave them off but other people have said not to, and I don't know anyone with a grey that shows. I'm doing Devon County and must say I'm pooing my pants :-) I've never shown at county level before!

Thank you:) any hints and tips for a newbie in the ring? And on getting a grey sparkling? Am currently battling bald patches where winter coat is falling out and summer coat not coming through!

Devon is still a couple weeks away bit of sunshine and am sure coat will be fine. Depending what time your class is, if later you may end up parked by the stabling and it is quite a walk.
