I bought some arena plus clippers this year as my wolseley swift ones were getting tired (20 years old so fair enough!). However I'm really disappointed in how they clip, dont seem to clip as close as the wolseleys, over heat quickly , and I'm finding it very hard to get the tension right

. Anyway I noticed when I was cleaning them to put away today that they don't have the little round loose hoop that the wolsleys have around the revolving bit (you will only know what I'm talking about if you have had to seach for this in a shavings bed!). Should there be one of these or do the liveryman clippers not have them? And does this post make any sense at all?!

hmmm well I dont know about the loop thing but I have Arena clippers that Eddie Palin supplied after a fight over cordless Maverick ones being useless (long story)..i have to say i find the same, getting tension right is hard and they overheat very very easily..I have now invested in 3 sets of blades so I can change them every 20 mins or so...I so all the things they say, oil, keep the filter clean etc but doesnt seem to make a jot of difference. They dont clip really tight but thats more me than the clippers 'i think and perhaps I need fine blades...

Ihave Arena Clippers, about 15 years old. No mine do not have a loose hoop anywhere. There is the main body of the clipper, 2 blades (Obviously!) A spring, a long bolt and a nut. No other loose bits in mine!

If you are really not happy with your clippers, have you thought about contacting the makers direct!
I deal with them through my business and find them to be a very caring company!
Espcially if you do not likr your product!
Give them a call or letter and see what they can come up with for you.

That's a good idea. Bought clippers off ebay - supposedly new but ex demo so no warranty. I dont think theyre's faulty, I just don't seeem to get on with them

had probs with mine over heating from day one and just got worse ,ending up having new part as melted some glue that held teeth on one part ,ok but still got to hot too quick and then stopped when used upside down ect ,hubby found it was the on off switch he overode it which made them work fine and by using a tub with 2 ins of oil in and resting them in there to lube instead of spraying them they now dont get hot at all ,and i use circiut breaker to turn the power on and off .
