question about mules

I know that its a stupid question but can anyone tell me ,since mules are sterile ,do they still come in male and female types, and do males have to be gelded?

Yes, they are male or female and usually sterile. Gelding a male mule would make him behave in a less stallion-y way.

Mules have been known to be fertile.

Hinny = Dam is a donkey + sire is a horse

Easily confuzzled.
