Started adding this to my lads feed about 3 days ago (Friday) after using pink powder, currently only feeding half a scoop to get him used to it. However since yesterday he's got the runs? Nothing else in his feed/management has changed, he still gets his BY, MagOx and salt in his feed, could it be the Pro Balance? Has anyone else had the same problem?

^^^ agreed. That was my first thought anyway. Too much magnesium causes sloppy poos. 'Tis the body's way of getting rid of excess. How much are u feeding?

Sorry have to say I disagree with the above advice. I feed the full measure of pro balance and 50mg of magnesium to my cob every day and I've never had a problem. The only time he went a bit runny was when I put him on haylage for the first few days.

Think there's only something like 5mg of magnesium in the pro balance daily dose anyway so would be very surprised if it's that.

The levels I feed are what was given to me by Nic Barker when he left Rockley and I do notice the difference in him when he doesn't get this much magnesium.

Maybe there's something else in it he isn't getting on with. Some horses cope better with pro hoof than pro balance as it has other bits in it to help the tummy.

The level of magnesium in Pro Balance + is calculated at a level that is safe and sufficient for MOST horses.

As each horse is different metabolically - I would urge people to speak to the makers of Pro Balance + BEFORE adding extra minerals to the mix.

When I was feeding MagOx on it's own I was feeding 25g a day - Nic at Rockley advised me to feed 50g so I still don't think it's the MagOx as he is on less that he was before (3g from 1/2 measure PB and 6g from teaspoon extra) - unless that is the problem and I need to give him more??

Have you cut out the pink powder? Maybe you ought to add a bit as it's a pro biotic?

Correct me if I'm wrong please people.:)

I use Pro Hoof and add mag ox without problems, but also micronised linseed and work by eye.

Yes I've cut out the pink powder but thought yeast was good for the gut (he has BY)? I still have PP left over so can add that back in. He also has 50g linseed in his dinner.
