Weve just had one of these installed at the forest next to your yard previously wed used the gap in the fence next to the main gate but more and more drivers are blocking this leading to riders being blocked in our out of the forest. I contacted the BHS, forestry and local council access officer who worked together to get his put in which we are very grateful for
Ive never seen or used one before but I expected it to be something you could use without getting off your horse it has a long vertical handle that I can reach when mounted but when I open the gate it swings back extremely quickly so I end up having to get off to hold it open not a problem for me on a 14.3 but other local riders I've met are finding it difficult as there is then no where to remount on the other side.
I contacted the forestry and BHS about this and was told the riders should themselves arrange to get it hung and resprung properly I have no idea how these things are supposed to work and wondered if anyone had any ideas how to fix this (if indeed its not supposed to work like this)
Any ideas would be welcome!
