My Shetland is registered with the SPSBS and has quite good breeding. Unfortunately we've never had her registered in our name with the SPSBS and haven't even seen her papers! She has a Wetherbys passport in her stable name registered to me.
We bought her 18 years ago, when I was 10 and so obviously I wasn't aware at that point and have been trying to contact her old owner or breeder for the last 10 years or so without success.
The only option I have to register in my name with the SPSBS is to have her DNA tested (I know they have her sire's family's DNA on file but not sure about her dam), this is going to cost a fair amount and TBH I'm never going to breed from her or show her in SPSBS classes.
But I am planning to take her to a Veteran class at the local county show, which is a qualifier for Olympia. Now I don't expect to qualify at all but would prefer to not break any rules at any point.
So, my question is do you think I should just enter her with her stable name or risk putting down her registered name? From a snobbish point of view, I'd prefer to call her by her registered name but, as I said, I'd rather not break any rules.
What do you think?
