Basically, after paying for accomodation which includes 2 meals a day I will have £75 a week left. Sadly means I'll have to use the most basic room but needs must!

The £75 is based over 52 weeks. Is this enough to live on? Can't think of what I will have to spend it on whilst there but hoping to take one horse with me on DIY livery at a local yard. Any help appreciated.
I wont have a car with me so hoping to get a spot on one of the yards within biking distance!

If your not fussed on facilities I know of a fantastic little yard that is walking distance from the college, it only has stables and fields but only £15 a week - bargain! PM me if u want details :)

I was at Writtle (a fair few years ago now) the social life is great so that's were your money goes!!!!!!
The basic rooms are fine and more than adequate so don't worry yourself about that, I never took my horse with me and glad that I didn't as I ended up not having anytime with the social life and of course doing the work and lectures!

If you're not taking your horse, £75/ week is easily loads enough to live off! I budget £15-£20 a week once my bills are paid for, and that's includes 3 meals a day...

Can't think of what I will have to spend it on!! I do plan to take my horse but with some luck will get a place at the yard down the road, which is £15 a week and in walking distance and I wont be taking a car so no need to pay for that.

Have you planned for tv license? What about uniform many places have polo shirts etc. Books? Do you have to pay for printing stuff? Shows with your horse? Taxis to town/food shopping or the bus fare?

I went to myerscough and took my own horse. I had no money after paying for the livery, straw, hay, feed, blacksmith, worming and vets. I took on a couple of part time jobs, one on the yard and one on the show centre and that helped me pay for nights out and competing my own horse. I know loads of girls who are at writtle and I only live 5 mins from there. If you know of a yard with space get your name down quick as yards in the area are few and far between !!!!

When I was at Writtle my money went on food (even though I got 2 meals a weekday, the food was rank), drinking, taxis into town, Sunday lunches at the pub in the village, boiler suits, steel toe cap boats, lab coats, stationery, posters and phone calls home:-)

What are you going to study?
Just curious as I start my first year at writtle in September? :D

My first choice is Rehab and therapy, but if not then Equine studies Sports horse performance :D You?

Don't plan on taking a tv. Will probably have to get some books but don't think I would need to buy them weekly? Would take my own printer but good point on the ink etc. No horsebox so no shows just school hire from the college if I hack her up there. 2 meals a day included in the rent so only need to buy weekend food/snacks! :)

Ah yes I plan to, just waiting for my acceptance letter and then I will, though not sure how soon that'll arrive!

I'm doing a degree in Equine Sports Therapy and I'm bringing my horse with me too :D
have you thought of keeping him/her at the college? I'm not as it's only DIY and would quite like part livery so it gives me some breathing room if I'm busy with coursewrok ect. but if you're happy with doing it yourself its a good option as it's so close :D

I hope I get into the therapy :)
Erm no not keeping her at the college as its so expensive and shared turnout too etc so not for us! I am looking at some local yards in the area to see whats suitable, hopefully when I get my acceptance letter I can go down there to look around properly !

Sounds exactly the same a with me - my boy is better in individual turnout & Id prefer as much TO as poss as otherwise he gets a bit whizzy!
Good luck! I have a list of yards around that area if you want it - depends on what you are looking for but it's useful, I did hours of Internet searches :D
I live overseas but got a trip booked in April to look at all the yards.
Hope you find somewhere nice :)

Thanks :) I've had a google of the closest livery yards to the college as provided on the college site and narrowed it down to three within biking distance as I wont have a car! Another factor in my searching :p

Aaahh that'll make it more difficult! Thankfully I'll have a car, although would still like a yard as close as poss. :)
Hope you fins somewhere!!
