not really veterinary, i have a 16year old throuabred who is 16years old, fit and healthy and in work, the last week or so he has felt quite lethargic when being ridden, once warmed up he will work forwardly and works well but he seems very tired at then end of it, he gets worked ost days getting schooled for half an hour to an hour, lunged loosley in between days that arent getting schooled and then hacked and has 2 days off a week also,he is fine in evry other way , he has just moved to another yard also ? something to do with it. should i just give him a few days off work and then resume a light work programme for a week? any suggesstions greatly appreciated.

Perhaps he is feeling the effects of getting old. Comes to us all at certain times of the year. If you are worried get the vet out to do bloods and see if he has a problem you can help with. He may have a virus, he may need more feed or different feed. Or he may just want a quieter life.
You could also try giving him a holiday if he's been in work a long time. Spring out at grass without being messed with can sometimes perk a beastie up. Or maybe he's just bored with the same old dull routine.

thanks for you reply, hes been fine he was lightly schooled and worked very well and then had a couple of days of chilling out and playing out, very bright and happy, just keep a close eye on him. xx
