Question for Pergolide users

Just wondered how much you pay and whether you get prescription from your vet and then get it filled at Chemist. Just picked up some from new vet and it seems so expensive, but price might have gone up. Just want a few comparisons - thanks

Get a prescription from my vet and get it from my local pharmacist. £35.00 for a pack of 100 x 250 microgram Pergolide.

I pay £35 for 60 x 1g tablets, same get a prescription from the vets and take to a local pharmacy.

Last time I got them (September) got them from chemists with a prescription and paid £36 for 100 x 1mg tablets.

My vet recommended I bought it through a chemist, said they had no chance of competing pricewise as they only bought the occasional box. So in all fairness your vets may not be totally ripping you off, as long as they don't try and charge you a fortune for the prescription.

Unfortunately, the vet was very unhappy about giving me a prescription - said that all clients buy through them. However, I do know that they must give a prescription if requested, although they can charge for it (must be reasonable charges).

For all you above i have just had a horse dioagnoist with cushings since all have you been on pergolide have your horses every had another bout of lammi? How long has your horse been on pergolide? Sorry for hijacking your post!xx

No more laminitis. Been on Pergolide for 3 years. Make sure you worm your horse regularly and include a wormer that acts of encysted emerging small red worms as these can set of Laminitis.
