Question for those that have had children.

I was back on board 10days after normal birth and felt fine, probably could've got on earlier but to caught up in baby stuff! Go for it!

Every pregnancy/birth is different! I worked (7 liveries to do plus working in my OH's cafe right up until I went into labour and rode (my horse) until two weeks before. Unfortunately my muscles and ligaments were really strong and made my labour long and hard, although I was lucky enough not to tear. I was back riding after three days, and competing after about 6 weeks. My second was different, having a toddler meant I was more restricted, and I was carrying twins, one of which was ectopic and my tube ruptured meaning emergancy surgery. So I hardly rode at all in my 2nd as my scars couldn't settle as I was expanding rapidly! I think I started riding again about ten weeks after the birth. My obs consultant gave me wonderful advice "do what you want, if it hurts.... stop"!!

There's no rush. We can ride anytime but time with your new baby is precious and you'll find this out after the big day! I was jumping on my 2nd ride which was about 1/2 months after birth. Natural birth, no stitches but heavy bleeding and felt like I was weeing / sitting on glass for a while!!! Just relax and enjoy yourself, I know at the end you just want to be 'normal' again but once their out you'll feel different again. Good luck!

Great stuff everyone, you have put paid to my broody feelings for a bit!!! Childbirth sounds horrid! Why does nobody tell these things to teenage girls? That would sort out a few social problems!!

Too right.

At 18 I was a student Nursery Nurse doing placement in Freedom Fields Maternity Unit and SCBU, and I can tell you, after seeing a good few births, a lot of post natal exams etc, etc I was so put off that I didn't have my first, and only child, until I was 31!!!
