I bought an AYR8 hat last November. I love the shape and it fitted well to begin with but after wearing it only a few times, the lining was compressing quite a lot.

Now, it has compressed so much that the hat is far too big. If I didn't have the chin strap done up I think it would literally fly off my head. The lacings are at their tightest too. I ride once or twice a week for an hour each time so it is not exactly getting over-used. I was fitted professionally too, so it was the right size.

I know all hat linings compress to a degree but this seems extreme. My Champion Ventair is years old and still fits pretty snugly.

Anyone else had the same problem with an AYR8?

Cant say mine has the same problem. Go back to the shop as you can get inserts to bulk it back out again. Best to take the hat too so that you get the correct ones put in.

Found that with mine too- I tried on a 6 3/4's at a show and it fitted but when I tried in a shop I took a 6 7/8ths. Thought I'd just remembered the wrong size so took the bigger one- the lining has now compressed and I figure I should have gone for the smaller one (guessing because of the demo one being tried on alot it had compressed already), but had to go off how it fitted at the time of purchase. Very frustrating!
Think foam inserts are the way forward.
