I managed to pick one up recently nearly new, 17" but upon measuring it is comes up 19" from stud to middle of cantle but comes up 17" from middle of pommel to middle of cantle, is that the correct way to measure one of these as I understand they do not go up to 19" anyway?!

Oh thanks webble, and for previous advice when I've posted about the flexee! Well, the story is I've been researching saddles for the past year and it was between a thorowgood t4 and a flexee but decided the flexee would be best for my youngster, you see I'm not even backing her for another year but I saw a brown 17" on ebay only used a couple of times for a great price so nabbed it quick, (I hear these are going to be discontinued due to not being profitable enough so wanted to snap one up soon....) so it is my little investment, just waiting until the time is right but I can get her used to it in the meantime.

I just need a girth and saddle cloth now, it is quite generous for a 17" which is good, I bought a medium hi withered numnah which is too small. Just need to decide between the prof choice or dever gel girth.

I got rid of my t4 for my flexee best decision I have made :) Yes they are only going to be available in leather soon which I think is a shame but can understand it. I find the numed numnahs do come up quite small too which doesnt help.

If you can cope with their lead times and rubbish service DH do this girth which is the same as the pro choice one but less than half the price! I have one and its great http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/Equestr...s/Horze+Grenville+Dressage+Girth_306-0170.htm

Most people say to get a girth 20 inches shorted than your normal girth but I found that to be too small I would say maybe 16inches shorter personally so the horse doesnt catch itself on the buckles
