Who looks after your horse when you go on holiday?
If its at home - do you put it on full livery whilst away?
Or does someone you know look after him/her whilst you're away?

Fot those of you on diy do you Switch to full livery whilst you're away?

I'm on a DIY yard but we 'pair up' and two horses go out together, and the two owners share duties. It works really well, apart from that I went on holiday a few weeks after I got my horse, and my 'partner' hasn't been on holiday yet! It all balances out though, it's a really good system!

When I had my two last year - no one did - they were in the field, I put in the book in the office I was away and included a couple of extra phone numbers to try. I do not think anyone even touched them for the 5 days I was away.

theres only 3 of us at our yard. we all muck in togeather and hope we havent booked our holidays at the same time.lol
It all works ok and buy choccies as a thankyou

My friend does my horse, we always do each others whenever anyway, we just bring something nice back of the holiday for each other. But when we go together we just put them in the field and as im friendly with YO they go and check them for us.

I haven't been away yet, but when I do go, the lady that keeps her ponies next door has kindly agreed to feed them and keep an eye on them. In return, I will do hers if need be and just keep an eye on them (have already saved one from a fence).

Haven't been on holiday for a couple of years, don't feel the need for one. At our yard I've looked after friends horses when they go away, most horses are looked after by the YO on full livery while the owners areaway..
