Ok brought my new girl about 6 weeks ago, she was brought over from Belgium last year at 5 and broken in on a SJ yard, she is amazing when you get her in the school and when jumping she learns really quickly (jumped a 5 stride double last week started getting 6-7 strides in as she like to jump deep, once I started getting her going forward she finds it really easy so quickly).

However the problem is getting into the schools she refuses to move, I ended up putting on her controller halter this morning then she gives in staright away, after I schooled her this morning I tried to taker her for a cool down walk down our track which is abot 700m it took 45 mins as she refused to move whatever I did (smacking, Tapping, waiting, turning going backwards) until she just decided to move!!!

I have put her on a magnesium calmer, I spoke to her previous owner who only had her 5 months and she said that she was like it when she got her, until she settled at about 2 months!

I dont let her get away with anything, but she is really trying my patience, Any Advice or is this normal!!!!

Sorry its so long but I feel better for explaining it!!!

I wouldnt create an issue- just follow another horse if thats when she's happiest and keep it all stress free.
Mares will be mares!!

Maybe when she is non-stressed/under pressure, say just in the stable or yard, try getting her moving forwards and back of the same signal each time and stop the signal as soon as she does it. You could tap her with a whip to bring her forward, or pull forward on the reins or whatever you like. If you keep the same signals then she should learn what it means and then if she stops when you don't want her to you can give the signal and she should think 'oh yeah, that means go forward' or whatever it is you want her to do. Worked with my old mare anyway! She knew the signal so it sort of overrode (sp.?) the stressiness about going past a scary thing.
Sorry this is a bit garbled!
