My horse has been having 'colic like' symptoms as you might know, she has had the vet 4 times in 4 weeks and has various blood tests, scans and stomach taps all of which show there is noting wrong. She is being scoped on Thursday with a view to checking for gastric ulcers. This is going to cost a fair amount of money and I will be claiming for it on insurance.
I have printed a claim form off the internet. My question is should I ring the insurance company and inform them? I am wondering whether to leave it until after she is scoped as at the moment I am unsure as to whether it will be colic I am claiming for or ulcers- what should I do?

You only have a limited time to notify them (usualy 28 days) of any vet visit, if you don't and they find out later they can refuse to pay out for any related treatment so ring them now.

Ditto - call them as a matter of urgency. If you read the small print you will probably find that they need to be notified BEFORE any veterinary exam is carried out.
