My Morgan mare is going on 28 and I have a gelded pony, they both became part of the family in January 2001. They only really have contact with my neighbor's gelding.
Well, Thursday, my friends brought over their Arabian mare to stay for a couple of weeks. The introduction went well, but there was spraying going on. With the excitement, wasn't sure who and if Thunder was turning on the visiting mare. It turns out it is my mare spraying. She will do this whenever she and the visiting mare get excited and start running around. They are definitely not fighting. The visiting mare stays at my mare's side like glue, she is so in love with her and it appears Shandy cares for her, too. She is spraying a lot, because they do get excited a lot, there is spray all over. Here is the most gross part, sorry, but important, it is a yellowish color, it kinda looks like a pale urine, but slimy.
I searched and could not find anything specific anywhere, other than someone saying their mare will spray urine to say no. Could this be what is going on - My mare is telling the visiting mare no when she gets excited?
