Just wondered if anyone had used magnetic rugs / boots etc to help with arthritis and if they'd had positive results? Equine physio suggested using bio flow dog collar (large!) around throat / poll area so magnets were on pulse to help relieve any possible pain in additon to usual pain relief. Thanks

(obviously collar would need to be adjusted and would have to be easily breakable just in case...)

I've got a magntic halter type thing that has the magnets over the tmj - bit where jaw joins the skull.

Also have a magnetic rug. the horses are definitely more loose when I get on having had the rug on them for 30 mins. one of them has spavins and both are in their teens.

I bought both mail order from Surrey Pet Supplies.

My 17 yr old cat wears a bioflow collar and he still seems more than capabe when it comes to getting on laps! I don't know about the dog collar, but the cat version does have an elastic section.

Good luck

Magnets are not just for pain , my 17hh Dressage horse used to be so flighty, esp. around the mounting blocks/getting on in general due to a very bad experance 2 years ago(before i owned him). I got a magnetic head piece and it has vanished with only 5 days of work!!! He is also more supple around the pole and focused.
They get a thumbs up from me, to relax and releave a horses pain and troubles.
Good luck, and happy horses!

I use magnotherapy on my horse, cat and also my OH swears by it.

Everbody in the family who uses it are less stiff and painful. My horse is 16 and has bone spavin, a split DDFT and manica flexoria and side bone. My cat is 16 1/2 and has arthritis in her shoulders and neck and can bounce around and play like a kitten still and my OH has arthritis in his knees and after not wearing his for a few hours, he starts to feel stiff and sore.

My horse and cat have bioflow and I dont know what OH uses.

You can get magnetic strips which attach to the headpiece of a bridle/headcollar or even bridles with them incorporated into the headpiece.

I think magnets are fantastic and have definatley made a difference to my horses. It is to be used around the head? Armadillo make magnets specially to be attached to a headcollar/bridle

With magnets it doesn't matter where you actually put the collar, belt or rug etc as its works on the whole blood supply. I used to be Bioflow distributor so remeber this very well.

Star has magnetic legwraps which she is currently wearing at night (got a bit of a twisted ankle). I know that the magnets affect her kidneys because the bed is sooo wet in the morning!

Wow, I didn't expect to get so many positive responses! Thank you all for replying, my mind is now made up and I can't wait to see how my boy goes after his magnetic therapy. :-)

I have a great magnetic stable rug which seems to be very rare these days as it is a proper quilted rug but has magnets in it so can be left on all the time in winter without the horse going cold....unfortunately i've not got the horse to take advantage of it now. Gone back to owners rather than anything dreadful before anyone wonders
